Removal tool for Windows 7...?
Quick Clean finds 400 registry errors
Had the same issue, but worse; Quick Clean found about 3000 registry entries for deletion, and, since I've been using it for years (and trusting McAfee), I let it run. Big mistake! Couldn't print, couldn't open IE9, couldn't open QuickBooks, couldn't open Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007! (So far - don't know what else won't work, yet.) And real time scanning wouldn't start. Just kept spinning and spinning.... MVT fixed the real time scanning issue on two (of 3) computers; had to reinstall/repair the other software that wouldn't open and uninstall/reinstall printer drivers on all 3. And the Internet Security 2013 update just makes everything run a little slower (McAfee does have a reputation as a resource hog...). The new interface is pretty, but cosmetics don't mean much if functionality isn't there...
Real time scanning keeps turning off and virtual tech cant fix
Hi Johnboy1214,
Sorry for the inconvenience caused , Could you please provide the following information so that we could help you better.
What is the operating system in the computer ?
Do you have any other security software installed in the computer ?
How old is the computer ?
Was the computer infected by any malware in the past ?

Risky connection resolves to Microsoft/Ottawa?
This gets murkier the deeper I dig into it.
According to various domain tools, the original IP address used to host "mail.ttscvn.com". Details for that site have now been removed, but it shared the server with these sites -
entrar.animalog.com.br
login.live.com
login.live.com.nsatc.net
mail.ftplasia.com
mail.ttscvn.com
studentemail.enmu.edu
studentmail.ed-coll.ac.uk
Does that look like a Microsoft server to you? No, me neither. Except it probably is. Here's the source of that info -
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:kp5NvvFw31wJ:host.robtex.co m/mail.ttscvn.com.html+131.253.61.64+blacklist&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk
http://ip.robtex.com/131.253.61.64.html
Things may have changed slightly. The latest information from http://www.ip-adress.com/reverse_ip/131.253.61.64 shows these domains on the server -

Those do look like Microsoft domains, and the ones I checked have a valid Microsoft digital certificate and a secure https: connection.
The internet organisational graph shows mail.ttscvn.com resolves to AS8075, which is Microsoft (http://as.robtex.com/as8075.html)
It begins to look as if the IP address, the server and the domains all belong to or are connected with Microsoft ...
.. and then everything goes murky again, and the doubt re-appears. One of the host names sharing this suspect IP address is "login.live.com.nsatc.net". For this, see the following -
http://pop.dnstree.com/com/live/login/
http://dnstree.com/com/hotmailbcn/
All well and good, except that http://www.ip-adress.com/whois/hotmailbcn.com shows this is another login page hosted on a server (131.253.61.82) in Ottawa; and if you try to go to "hotmailbcn.com" in Google Chrome you will encounter this page -

At which point I gave up. The servers are, or are not, Microsoft servers. They do, or do not, host phishing sites. They should, or should not, be blocked. It's all as clear as mud.

Security Scan Plus isn't an antivirus it's merely a sales gimmick to get people to buy things and is one of those optional extra downloads one has to keep eyes open for when downloading other software, especially Adobe products.
I could have told you to uninstall that if I'd known.
1-855-333-5996 isn't a McAfee number but one of those fly-by-night "Fixit" firms. Although from their web page they look fairly respectable, but certainly not McAfee.

It wasn't McAfee that was trying to rip you off.

Another thing!
Everything is working as before on my Win7 laptop. Yet on my Vista laptop after I boot, if I click on the McAfee shield in the system tray or desktop to open the main McAfee Internet Security screen, it takes about 1 minute for it to open. Clicking again has no effect. Once the main McAfee screen has appeared and then subsequently been closed, reopening it with a shield icon click is virtually instantaneous.
Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2, 4GB ram, Core2 Duo@2Ghz, McAfee Internet Security.
Site Advisor browser button is always gray?
Thank you for your reply, Hayton.
1. About confirms that I have 3.6.0.187 installed.
2. Help takes me here: http://www.siteadvisor.com/support/index.html?pip=false&premium=false&client_uid=1889866039&client_ver=3.6.0.187&client_type=IEPlugin&suite=true&aff_id=0&locale=en_us&ui=1&os_ver=5.1.3.0
3. Options appear to be the same as they always have.
The site report still works. This site https://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/https://community.mcafee.com/message/274410#274410?pip=false&premium=false&client_uid=1889866039&client_ver=3.6.0.187&client_type=IEPlugin&suite=true&aff_id=0&locale=en_us&ui=1&os_ver=5.1.3.0 has a green checkmark..
I only have IE installed, so I can't compare it to anything else. Are there any particular IE settings I should check to see if that is the problem?
Thank you again for any help/suggestions.
